Twenty-One Love Poems: XXI
Adrienne Rich The dark lintels, the blue and foreign stones of the great round rippled by stone implements the midsummer night light rising form beneath the horizon—when I said “a cleft of light”  I meant this. And this is not Stonehenge simply nor any place but the mind casting back to where her solitude,  shared, could be chosen without loneliness,  not easily nor without pains to stake out the...

The thoughtless birds that shook out of the trees, Singing an ecstasy I could not share, Played cunning in my thoughts. Surely in these Pleasures there could not...

“Parentheses may also be nested (with one set (such as this) inside another set)....”
– Bracket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (via deltamualpha) It’s Parenception. (via a-cumberbatch-of-cookies) I had to take out a license for parentheses once. That’s what happens when you plan to employ over a thousand sets of them in one piece of writing. There’s an organization in Greenwich...

Barry Obama's Transgender Nanny Tells Her Story,... →
Evie’s own story reflects this hardship. Beaten by her father for being a “sissy” when she was young, Evie dropped out of school after third grade because she couldn’t take the bullying and harassment. Things turned around when she taught herself how to cook, a skill she picked up so handily that before long she was working for many high-ranking officials. At a 1969...

I like
supernay: platonic relationships. Too frequently, I think, are friendships skipped over in favor of the more ‘thrilling’ romance in novels and movies. I’d like to read a book about two people who are simply friends. They’d love each other, of course, and have this amazing, deep, personal bond - it just wouldn’t be romantic. Perhaps that would be boring, though.
